PIONEER INN SHOPS

Pioneer Inn Shops AdThis old Whaler’s Inn and Shopping Arcade is situated on the Wharf and is the focal point of the Lahaina Historical District located at the site of the first lighthouse in the Pacific. Now known as the Pioneer Inn, it is Hawaii’s second oldest hotel and is recognized as a historical site at the Library of Congress. The 107-year old Inn is surrounded by many attractions including all recreational marine activities, the ferries to Lana’i and Moloka’i, and the historical Banyan tree.

It also houses 18 of the most respected and unique shops and merchants on Front Street. For instance, you can have that special souvenir picture taken with tropical birds for the folks back home while enjoying a cool and refreshing ice cream treat from Haagen Dazs before perusing the world-famous handmade jewelry featuring black pearls and other native stones at Maui Divers. At Lahaina Ticket Company, you can purchase tickets for most all recreational island activities. The Whalers General Store offers you everything from toothpaste to t-shirts or whatever else you forgot to bring with you. Atlantis Adventures offers you a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to cruise the bay area underwater and enjoy the coral and marine life.

If you are shopping for informal Aloha attire, see the many stylish selections available at Maui Lifestyle and Paradise Lahaina. Visit South Seas for unusual antique carvings and children’s clothing and Kula Gold for island prints, ukuleles, and jewelry. Also shop for different types of jewelry at Island Treasures; or stop in for a variety of coffees and specialty gifts at Bad Ass Coffee Company.

Don’t miss any of these. In any event, if you have time to spend in Lahaina, by all means shop at the Historic Pioneer Inn Center. Most importantly, do not forget that the Pioneer Inn Grill and Bar serves a variety of delicious food, reasonably priced, 3 meals a day, 365 days a year. Corner of Front St./Banyan Tree and Hotel St., Lahaina, (808) 661-3636.
